Video – Islam Makhachev smashed a puncher with tremendous force before the return fight at UFC 302

Islam Makhachev showed off his striking power with a puncher before his UFC 302 title defense against Dustin Poirier.

While Makhachev is known for his wrestling and strength on the ground, he also has strength in his hands and feet, as we saw against Alexander Volkanovski.

Ahead of the upcoming fight, Islam Makhachev hit the puncher and it was impressive as he finished with a score of 973, an impressive score for a lightweight.

This was impressive from Makhachev as he showed off his striking power which fans don't get to see very often in his fights.

Islam Makhachev called Dustin Poirier an easy fight

Heading into his title defense at UFC 302, Islam Makhachev is the clear favorite to defeat Dustin Poirier.

Not only does Makhachev hope to beat Poirier to defend his belt, but he says he will do it easily as he calls Poirier an easy fight.

“Dustin, he's a warrior, a legend – he's got more experience in this sport than anyone,” Islam Makhachev told TMZ. “But his problem is his style. That's this guy's only problem. His weak point is wrestling and grappling, and I have the key to easy combat. And if I follow the plan, I can defeat him easily. My style and Khabib's style are the worst style for Dustin. People who can, can take him down, hold him down, it always causes him problems.”

“Dustin is a good opponent because Oliveira, Armand, I already beat these guys,” Makhachev added. “My dream is to fight Gaethje in this division, but he has already lost. Right now we only have Dustin in our weight class because Armand said no, Oliveira will lose, Gaethje will lose. We have no one.”

If Makhachev easily defeats Poirier, there is no telling who will be next for him.
