Stoltenberg joined Fox News on Tuesday to discuss the war in Ukraine and why he believes continued US defense support is necessary. The NATO leader said member nations are increasing their funding because of Russian hostility, but he also noted Trump's emphasis on the issue during his time in office.
“I've worked with (Trump) these four years. And the reality is that he had a very clear message about the need for European allies to spend more. And I agree with him,” Stoltenberg said.

Stoltenberg also noted Russia's growing friendship with China, North Korea and Iran. He argued that NATO countries should work to create “consequences” for China, particularly regarding aid to Russia.

“Russia is getting a lot of support from China, from North Korea and Iran and these authoritarian countries. They want the U.S., they want NATO — they want us all to fail in Ukraine, because it's not just going to be a win for Putin. , it's President Xi.
