Texans’ C.J. Stroud (concussion) will miss his third consecutive game on TNF in Week 12
The Texans have achieved a 3-1 record over their last four games and stand at 5-5 as they approach Week 12. Houston has claimed two straight victories with Davis Mills taking the QB position.
Starting QB C.J. Stroud suffered a concussion against the Broncos in Week 9. He sat out Weeks 10 and 11 for the Texans. Houston faces a quick turnaround in Week 12, with a Thursday Night Football game against the Bills. Prior to that contest, the Texans have already announced that C.J. Stroud will be sidelined due to his concussion. This will mark his third consecutive game missed.
Davis Mills will begin his third straight game in place of C.J. Stroud in Week 12.

This marks the second instance in C.J. Stroud’s NFL career where he has missed a minimum of two games because of a concussion. He was absent for Weeks 15 and 16 during his rookie season in 2023 due to a concussion. C.J. Stroud played all 17 games for Houston in the 2024 season. With the Texans announcing Stroud’s absence for TNF, he’s set to miss his third straight game due to this injury. This situation isn’t favorable for the Texans.
NFL analysts anticipate that C.J. Stroud may return in Week 13 when the Texans take on the Colts in an AFC South matchup. In the meantime, Davis Mills will make his third consecutive start for the Texans. He has appeared in four games this season for Houston, boasting a 2-0 record in his starting outings. Mills has orchestrated game-winning drives in each of the last two contests, helping the team regain a .500 record at 5-5.

Houston faces an extremely challenging matchup in Week 12. They will take on one of the top offenses in the NFL, led by Josh Allen and the Bills. In their most recent game, the Bills scored an impressive 44 points against the Buccaneers. Buffalo’s offensive unit is averaging 29.2 points per game in 2025, which ranks them alongside the Lions for the fourth-most in the league.
Bills QB Josh Allen accounted for six total touchdowns in his Week 11 victory against Tampa Bay, with three passing and three rushing touchdowns. Houston’s defense will need to deliver one of its strongest performances this season to contain Buffalo’s high-powered offense. Josh Allen holds an 11-4 record in regular-season games played in a dome. Will the Texans’ defense be able to step up and minimize the damage inflicted by Buffalo during TNF in Week 12?
