During the offseason, the Jets secured QB Justin Fields with a two-year deal worth $40 million. This contract included $30 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $15 million. In 2025, Justin Fields has been the starter for nine of New York’s ten games to date, missing the Jets’ Week 3 match against the Buccaneers due to a concussion. He is currently averaging 139.9 passing yards per game this season, which is significantly the lowest in the NFL. Moreover, this average is the lowest recorded in the NFL since 2022, when the Bears managed only 130.5 passing yards per game, with Justin Fields as their quarterback.

On Monday, NFL insider Dianna Russini revealed that the Jets are withdrawing Justin Fields from play. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor will step in for his second start this season. Taylor, who is in his 15th year as a professional player and his second with the Jets, began in Week 3 when Justin Fields was sidelined due to a concussion. In that game, they lost to the Buccaneers by a score of 29-27. Taylor managed to throw for 197 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.
New York will be visiting the Ravens in Week 12. Baltimore has maintained a four-game winning streak after initially starting the season 1-5.
