Kyler Murray of the Cardinals (foot) is anticipated to make his comeback on MNF in Week 9 against Dallas
After kicking off the 2025 season with a 2-0 record, the Arizona Cardinals now stand at 2-5. They have endured five straight defeats, losing those games by a narrow aggregate of 13 points. Among those losses, two were by a mere single point.
For their previous two matchups, Arizona has been without starting quarterback Kyler Murray. In a narrow 22-21 defeat against the Titans in Week 5, Murray sustained a foot injury. Backup Jacoby Brissett had to step in and lead the Cardinals for two consecutive games. According to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss, the expectation is that Kyler Murray will return for Monday Night Football against the Cowboys in Week 9.

Kyler Murray incurred a foot injury during a Week 5 defeat to the Tennessee Titans. The former #1 overall draft selection missed Weeks 6 and 7 due to this setback. Furthermore, the team had a bye week in Week 8, providing Kyler Murray additional time to recuperate. Arizona is eager to return to the winning side and enhance their standing in the NFC. Nonetheless, the other three teams within their division have already achieved five victories. The Cardinals have significant ground to make up.
During Kyler Murray’s absence, seasoned backup Jacoby Brissett filled in for two games as the Cardinals’ starter. He accumulated 599 passing yards, with four touchdown passes and one interception throughout those two contests. However, Arizona did not secure a victory in either matchup. Now that Kyler Murray is back in good health for Week 9, head coach Jonathan Gannon expects him to return to action against Dallas.

Thus far in 2025, the Dallas Cowboys have faced challenges defensively, displaying inconsistent performance. Their offense ranks as the second-best in the NFL this season, averaging 30.8 points per game. However, their defense allows an average of 31.3 points per game, making it the second worst in the league, surpassed only by the Bengals. This situation could favor Kyler Murray and the Cardinals as they head into Week 9.
This presents an excellent chance for the Cardinals’ offense to showcase one of its strongest performances in 2025. The Cowboys’ defense is giving up an average of 258.6 passing yards per game this season. In his five starts this year, Kyler Murray has averaged only 192.4 passing yards per game. Will he experience a surge in productivity in Week 9, or will Arizona falter against Dallas? The Cardinals are set to travel for MNF in Week 9 against the Cowboys.
