According to Julius Julianis, newly crowned WBA super middleweight champion Jose Armando Resendiz will make his first title defense against Edgar Berlanga on the same undercard set for February 21st. The WBA has been acting predictably lately, and this situation remains disappointing. Berlanga (23-2, 18 KO) has struggled recently, holding a 1-2 record in his past three fights, which includes a ridiculous conclusion against Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz, sandwiched between one-sided defeats to Canelo Alvarez and Hamzah Sheeraz. While those losses are certainly credible, he absolutely should not be receiving a title shot following such a severe beating.
