Manchester United is preparing to go head-to-head with Newcastle United to acquire Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves in the upcoming winter transfer window, per Caught Offside.
The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their midfield at the year’s outset due to injuries to Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo. Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte have shown inconsistency as their midfield partnership, with Ugarte frequently losing possession. Reports suggest that United are considering a move for Neves, whose contract with Al-Hilal is set to expire at the end of the current season. Al-Hilal is willing to let him go this winter for £18 million, though there is a chance they could even sell the Portuguese for a lower fee.
