Italian international Federico Chiesa has at long last been named for his inaugural Premier League start of the 2025-26 season during Liverpool’s league match at home versus Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon. Chiesa given Premier League opportunity for Liverpool vs. WolvesThe former Fiorentina and Juventus player has faced difficulties in securing first-team chances since his transfer to the Premier League last summer. He has made just one start in the English top division, during a 3-2 loss against Brighton in the second to last match of the 2024-25 season, when Liverpool had already been crowned champions. The Italian experienced a lengthy adjustment period on Merseyside and has grappled with regaining full match fitness throughout much of the season. Fans have repeatedly urged for Chiesa to join the starting eleven this season. That chance has finally presented itself against Wolves. With Mohamed Salah participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, Alexander Isak sidelined due to injury, and Cody Gakpo not fully fit, Chiesa has been selected to start in attack alongside Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
