The President of Lega Serie A, Ezio Maria Simonelli, has confirmed that the Milan-Como match, which was initially planned to take place in Perth, Australia, will now occur at San Siro ‘on the first available date.’ President Simonelli stated (via Gazzetta) that Milan-Como “will take place at San Siro on the first available date.”Reasons for not playing Milan-Como in AustraliaMILAN, ITALY – MAY 06: A general view of the San Siro stadium before the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Semi Final Second Leg between FC Internazionale Milano and FC Barcelona at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on May 06, 2025, in Milan, Italy. (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images)The match is set for the weekend of February 7-8, 2026, but the Stadio Meazza in San Siro will be occupied due to the Winter Olympic Games opening ceremony on February 6. This unavailability means that Milan and Como’s fixture cannot be held that weekend, prompting both clubs to consider playing in Perth, Australia, with backing from Lega Serie A.This alternative was formally rejected last week when Lega Serie A indicated that “financial risks” and “last-minute complications” rendered the match in Perth unfeasible. With the venue firmly established now, Lega Serie A is tasked with determining a new date for the Milan-Como match at San Siro.Potential dates for Milan-ComoMILAN, ITALY – SEPTEMBER 14: An exterior view of the stadium prior to the Serie A match between AC Milan and Bologna FC 1909 at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on September 14, 2025, in Milan, Italy. (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images)According to Gazzetta, the most feasible date currently appears to be Wednesday, February 17, 2026. However, should Inter have a Champions League knockout match at home on that day, the fixture would need to be rescheduled to February 24. “Since Milan has been eliminated from the Coppa Italia, the game will be arranged as quickly as possible, on a Wednesday when San Siro is not occupied by Inter’s Champions League obligations,” Simonelli concluded.
