THE sister of former super-bantamweight boxer Stuart McFadyen has paid tribute to her brother who died earlier this month aged 42.
McFadyen, who lived in Colne, started his skilled boxing profession on July 21, 2006, with a first-round stoppage win in opposition to Neil Learn in Altrincham. Three years later, ‘The Burnley Banger’ fought in his 14th and ultimate contest, beating Sid Razak on factors in a four-round contest in his residence city. The one lack of McFadyen’s profession got here in opposition to Gavin Reid in November 2007.
In his sixth bout McFadyen precipitated an upset beating prospect Tasif Khan on factors in Wigan. And in March 2009 he held Stuart Corridor to a draw over six rounds. Corridor would go on to win British, Commonwealth and world bantamweight honours.
“Stuart sadly handed in his sleep,” Kirsten McFadyen informed Boxing Information.
“We as a household are devastated and this has left an enormous gap in our lives that may by no means be crammed. Stuart was beloved so deeply and dearly and if love might have saved him, he would have lived eternally.
“We shall be eternally pleased with what Stuart achieved in such a short while, his ardour and dedication to get contained in the ring was inspirational, outdoors the ring he was a loveable rogue! We are going to cherish each single reminiscence we have now of him, remembering his endearing character, large cheeky smile and infectious chortle. Could he relaxation in everlasting peace till we meet once more.”
A celebration of Stuart’s life shall be held on Monday, November 25, at Burnley Crematorium.
