McCann entrusted with keeping Kilmarnock in the Premiership after managerial appointment

Kilmarnock “are fully confident” that Neil McCann will maintain the club’s status in the Scottish Premiership. The 51-year-old, who has represented clubs such as Rangers, Hearts, and Dundee, has been appointed as manager at Rugby Park through to the summer of 2028.
McCann will work alongside Billy Dodds, as the two previously collaborated on Barry Ferguson’s interim management team at Rangers last season.
Currently, Kilmarnock sits at 11th position in the league, having failed to win any of their last 14 games, with Livingston trailing by four points and holding a game in hand. “We fully recognize the significance of making the right appointment,” a statement from the board of directors indicated.
“After an extensive process, we are confident that Neil and Billy possess the necessary qualities, experience, and character to move Kilmarnock Football Club forward.
“We have absolute faith in their capability to accomplish what is required to keep this club contesting in the Scottish Premiership.”
McCann, who has previously managed Dundee and Inverness CT, takes over from Stuart Kettlewell, who was dismissed after a tenure lasting less than seven months. Kris Doolan, initially intended to be appointed as Killie’s head of development and under-19s manager, temporarily led the team and secured just one point from a potential 12.
