Lorenzo Colombo put Genoa ahead with a first-half goal, which remained unchallenged until Rafael Leao’s equalizer in the 92nd minute from a corner kick. Genoa nearly clinched the win with a last-minute penalty; however, Stanciu sent his attempt over the crossbar, maintaining the draw. You can watch the action unfold on the Football Italia Liveblog. They did a commendable job at neutralizing us. Despite a challenging first half, we found ourselves in advantageous situations but then conceded that goal. “Their intensity waned in the second half, while ours grew. The area where we need to improve is our patience against these low-block teams, ensuring we don’t expose ourselves on counter-attacks, which nearly cost us the match. “This is a maturity lesson if we aim to fulfill our objective of finishing in the top four. We must enhance our approach. We didn’t show enough patience; we were too quick in our actions, and haste leads us nowhere.” MILAN, ITALY – JANUARY 08: Nicolae Stanciu of Genoa fails to convert a penalty during the Serie A match against AC Milan at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on January 08, 2026, in Milan, Italy. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t secure a win at home; we attempted several shots, but it didn’t yield results. In fact, we were fortunate not to have lost. “We will have nearly all our players fit for the match in Florence, and we will be prepared.” And finally, he briefly addressed goalscorer Leao, who still managed to score despite not being in peak physical condition. “He had two or three chances in open play that he could have capitalized on better. He isn’t at his absolute best at the moment, but he remained active throughout and ultimately found the net.”
