Sol Campbell identifies “top player” Arsenal should pursue ahead of Liverpool

Arsenal legend Sol Campbell has indicated that his former club should consider outmaneuvering Liverpool for the acquisition of Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace centre-back has made a name for himself as a premier performer in the Premier League during his tenure at Selhurst Park, and interest in him is expected to grow as he approaches the conclusion of his contract. Arsenal has been connected with Guehi by the Athletic‘s David Ornstein, and it appears Campbell would endorse that signing over other competitors like Liverpool. “Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace is a top player. I know Liverpool are sniffing around him. That’s someone I would inquire about,” Campbell stated to Sky Bet. Marc Guehi linked with Arsenal despite already possessing notable defensive resources.

The Gunners acquired Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera over the summer, and both have made positive starts; however, they are still clearly positioned behind William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes in the lineup. Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jurrien Timber are all capable of playing as centre-backs if necessary, making it difficult to envision how Guehi would secure significant minutes at the Emirates Stadium. The England international is undoubtedly talented, but unless Mikel Arteta envisions a different role for him, he doesn’t appear likely to unseat Saliba or Gabriel.
Marc Guehi should consider a transfer to Liverpool Guehi would arguably be better suited opting for Liverpool if he seeks to join a prestigious club where he will actually play a significant role in the starting squad.
