Charlton 1-5 Chelsea: Rosenior era begins with a bang as Blues strike five in FA Cup Third Round
The Liam Rosenior chapter at Chelsea commenced with a victory as goals from Jorrel Hato, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, and Pedro Neto led to a 5-1 triumph over Charlton in the FA Cup Third Round.
The former Strasbourg manager was officially appointed as the Blues head coach on Tuesday, and his debut with the London team was a delight as they emerged as clear winners at The Valley.
The final score may have slightly downplayed the efforts of the hosts, who at times posed significant challenges for their Premier League counterparts, even managing to score through Miles Leaburn.
Ultimately, Chelsea’s sharp finishing made all the difference, embellishing the scoreline late in the match to advance to the next stage.

The start of the Rosenior era unfolds dramatically
The home side began positively, but the Blues gradually took charge. The energetic Jamie Gittens had a couple of attempts on target early in the match, and a 25-yard strike from Josh Acheampong was expertly tipped around the post by the diving Will Mannion.
Gittens again came close before Hato netted the inaugural goal of the Rosenior era, powerfully finishing Guiu’s header across the area from 15 yards out.
Just five minutes after the halftime interval, the visitors doubled their score when Facundo Buonanotte’s curling free-kick to the near post was deftly redirected past Mannion by Tosin.
Yet, just as it seemed Chelsea were about to settle into a comfortable rhythm, The Valley erupted in celebration as Leaburn, a former Blues youth product, narrowed the gap by smashing the ball in after Filip Jorgensen had blocked Lloyd Jones’ initial header.
However, the excitement among the home fans was short-lived. Just five minutes later, Guiu reestablished the two-goal cushion, firing into the net after Mannion had spilled Buonanotte’s attempt.
Substitutes Estevao and Fernandez then had their efforts thwarted by the Charlton keeper, before the Argentine converted a penalty with the final kick of the match following Neto’s earlier goal.
