Crystal Palace ‘in survival mode’ says boss Glasner
Crystal Palace’s manager Oliver Glasner has indicated that his team is currently in “survival mode” and struggles to play at their “top level” following the 1-1 draw against Fulham.
Glasner’s squad has already participated in 31 matches across all competitions, and they appeared fatigued toward the end of the game.
He is seeking to bolster the team and is on the verge of acquiring Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson.
Palace, having contested eight more matches than Fulham this season, has now gone six games without a victory, and Glasner remarked: “It is always important to stay humble and respect every single point.

“With all the factors involved, we performed well when both our minds and bodies were fresh, but ultimately, it was just a matter of time before we conceded.
“We find ourselves somewhat in survival mode. We must acknowledge that. We’ve never faced a team that has had less rest than we have. Even Fulham had an extra day. We played on Sunday, while they played on Saturday.
“Our next match is against Newcastle (on Sunday), giving us two days to recover, whereas they have four. The physical difference is noticeable. I’m not complaining; I’m simply stating the facts. At this moment, it’s not feasible for us to play at our highest level.”
Fulham’s manager Marco Silva expressed discontent that Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta managed to score while his team was temporarily down to 10 men after Jorge Cuenca was ordered off the field by referee Tony Harrington due to a perceived head injury.
“We shouldn’t have been competing with 10 men,” Silva stated. “That makes no sense. It’s a common instinct to go down, but Cuenca managed to stand up so quickly in that moment.
“The game ought to have been 11 against 11. If it is a concussion, it can pose risks, and you can involve the medical personnel, but that isn’t always the case.
“The referees, given their level of experience, should have the capacity to manage the match differently. Today, there was entirely no reason for Cuenca to be off at that point.”
