Former Trainer of Anthony Joshua Issues Power Alert for Jake Paul

A past coach of Anthony Joshua has delivered a cautionary message to Jake Paul ahead of their clash with the two-time world heavyweight champion. Joshua and Paul are preparing for an eight-round sanctioned heavyweight match set to take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday, December 19. ‘AJ’ has not fought since he was decisively defeated by former IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in September 2024. Paul’s most recent fight took place on June 28, where he convincingly outpointed Mexico’s Julio Cesar Chavez Jr during their cruiserweight bout in California. In a discussion with Fight Hype, Joshua’s ex-trainer Derrick James shared his perspective on the controversial matchup between Joshua and Paul, which he believes will be ‘interesting’. “What I’ll say is that it’s going to be pretty interesting… I have no idea what the outcome will be… I’m looking forward to seeing that.” James then commented on the punching strength of ‘AJ’, seemingly issuing a warning to Paul before what will undoubtedly be the most challenging test of his career to date. “He punched (hard). We’re not going to get into it but he punched so hard I mean my whole arm and shoulder (hurt). He punched pretty hard,” The fight is officially recognized as a professional bout, not an exhibition. On fight night, both competitors will use 10oz regulation gloves, a factor that may favor ‘AJ’, who has promised to inflict serious damage on Paul.
