Vincenzo Italiano is increasingly recognized as one of Italy’s most underappreciated coaches, as Bologna prepares to take on Napoli on Monday, marking his fifth cup final in a span of four years. The Rossoblu recovered from an early goal by Marcus Thuram to draw 1-1 with Inter, equalizing through Riccardo Orsolini’s penalty and subsequently triumphing in the shoot-out. This victory secures their spot against Napoli on Monday night in the Supercoppa Italiana Final, which will be Bologna’s first participation in this event. They earned their place by winning the Coppa Italia Final against AC Milan last season, achieving their first title in 51 years.

In addition to the two with Bologna, he previously led Fiorentina to consecutive editions of the Conference League Final, along with a Coppa Italia Final. Although he didn’t secure victory in any of those matches while with the Viola, these achievements exceeded expectations, especially considering their current challenges. Italiano, who recently celebrated his 48th birthday, was defeated in the 2023 Conference League Final against West Ham United and in the 2024 edition to Olympiacos in extra time. His Fiorentina team also lost the Coppa Italia Final 2-1 to Inter in May 2023.
