Liverpool announces Alexander Isak surgery after sustaining broken leg against Tottenham
The Swedish forward was hurt while scoring for the Reds against Tottenham.
Liverpool has confirmed that striker Alexander Isak has undergone surgery following the broken leg he incurred during the match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Isak entered the game as a substitute and opened the scoring for Arne Slot’s team in a 2-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he was hit by Micky van de Ven immediately after making contact with the ball.
The Swedish player tried to persist but ultimately could not continue and was substituted.
The Reds announced that the 26-year-old, who transferred to Liverpool from Newcastle in a club-record £125m deal in September, suffered a leg fracture and had surgery on Monday.
Although the club hasn’t specified a recovery timeline, it is believed the forward may be out of action for at least several months.

“Following a diagnosis, an operation was carried out today for an ankle injury that involved a fibula fracture.
“Isak’s rehabilitation will now proceed at the AXA Training Centre, with no specific timeframe established for his return.”
Slot’s team will next compete on December 27 when they take on last-placed Wolves at Anfield, with the visitors still seeking their first win in the top flight this season.
