Milan is actively considering various defensive options as they approach the January transfer window, aiming for Massimiliano Allegri to enhance the experience and depth in the defense. One name being evaluated is Federico Gatti, who Allegri is familiar with from their shared time at Juventus. The 27-year-old previously turned down a transfer to Napoli last summer, but his circumstances in Turin are complicated by injuries and Juventus’ current defensive predicament. Juventus finds itself in a near-constant state of emergency at center-back, with Daniele Rugani unavailable for several weeks, and the club is hesitant to reduce an already thin defensive line. Consequently, a January transfer for Gatti, especially to a direct competitor for a top-four finish, seems quite improbable. As reported by Sky Sport Italia, via GOAL, a notable suggestion is Milan Skriniar, who spent seven seasons in Serie A with Sampdoria and Inter before departing Italy in 2023. However, the Slovak currently serves as the captain at Fenerbahce, complicating any potential deal during the season. The English player has recently returned from a muscle injury, and Milan is currently evaluating if there’s potential room for negotiation with the Ligue 1 club. As the January window draws near, Milan is balancing ambition with practicality as they aim to strengthen Allegri’s defensive lineup without causing upheaval in the market.
