A remarkable event took place tonight at the Sofitel Dome in Cotonou, Benin, as the first season of PFL Africa concluded with four fresh champions crowned in the Heavyweight, Welterweight, Featherweight, and Bantamweight categories.
In the main event, Nkosi “The King of Many Nations” Ndebele (11-3) showcased his prowess, delivering a knockout against fellow South African Boule “Bad Boy” Godogo (4-2) to be named the inaugural PFL Africa Bantamweight Tournament Champion. From the very first moments, Ndebele was on fire, effectively landing powerful blows on Godogo. In the second round, after surviving a takedown, Ndebele delivered a brutal kick to the body that left Godogo on the canvas.
In the co-main event, Yabna “The Panther” N’Tchala (14-2-1) from Guinea-Bissau put forth a valiant effort against Angola’s Shido Boris “The Machine” Esperança (10-2), winning by TKO and seizing the first PFL Africa Welterweight Tournament Championship. Esperança started robustly in the initial rounds, leveraging his advanced grappling skills to dictate the fight and keep N’Tchala pinned down. However, in the third round, N’Tchala made a comeback with powerful punches and elbows. He concluded that round with a takedown, continuing to batter Esperança with hard hits on the ground. Ultimately, an exhausted Esperança was unable to rise from his stool at the beginning of the fourth round, leading the referee to halt the contest.
From Ivory Coast, Abraham “The One and Only” Bably (8-2) took only 21 seconds to knock out South African Justin Clarke (4-1), claiming the inaugural PFL Africa Heavyweight Tournament Championship. Bably began aggressively right from the opening bell, frequently connecting with significant punches to Clarke’s head. A right hook dazed Clarke, and Bably finished him off with a series of punishing left hands for an impressive knockout.
Nigeria’s Wasi “The Nigerian Jaguar” Adeshina (10-3) fought through a slow first round to triumph over Cameroonian Alain “African Assassin” Majorique via TKO in the second round, becoming the first-ever PFL Africa Featherweight Tournament Champion. Majorique had an effective first round, managing to hurt Adeshina early on. However, Adeshina regained his footing and continued to strike effectively, ultimately resulting in a Doctor Stoppage due to a cut over Majorique’s left eye in the second round.
