Report flop Origi finally terminates his contract with AC Milan

AC Milan has received more positive news, as after Niclas Fullkrug’s arrival this evening, they have finally concluded the termination of their contract with Divock Origi following months of negotiations over one of their least successful signings ever. Various sources, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sky Sport Italia, and others, all affirm that a consensus has been reached and the necessary documentation has been executed to terminate the contract by mutual agreement. The deal was initially set to run until June 2026, and he had been effectively sidelined for the past year and a half but had been reluctant to shorten the lucrative contract. His final appearance in a Milan jersey was in May 2023. He took part in 27 matches and netted two goals, which were scored against Monza and Sassuolo, before going on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 2023-24 season. Although he returned to the club in July 2024, he never featured again, dropping down to the Milan Futuro youth team in a desperate attempt to force a transfer. However, this strategy failed, as the 30-year-old appeared content to continue collecting his salary without stepping on the pitch. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, this contract amounted to €300,000 per month, roughly €4m net per year. It is reported that Origi didn’t even make an effort to train with the Milan Futuro team, instead commuting between Rome and Florence to work with a personal coach to maintain his fitness.
