Semenyo reps due in Manchester as Man City close in on deal

Representatives for Antoine Semenyo are arriving in Manchester to finalize the contract details as Manchester City engages in discussions with Bournemouth concerning his £65m release clause. Negotiations are anticipated to move forward this week as City aims to secure the signing of the 25-year-old winger when the transfer window opens on January 1.
Semenyo’s representatives are also expected to finalize personal terms on a long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium.

City is the sole club that has approached Bournemouth thus far regarding the release clause, which is thought to be active between January 1 and January 10. This interest comes despite approaches from Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea prior to Christmas.
Chelsea decided not to continue their efforts after an initial inquiry, while Spurs have shifted their focus to other targets.

Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol reports that Chelsea have halted their chase for Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo.
Will Man City pursue any additional signings in January? Pep Guardiola has dismissed the possibility of back-up goalkeeper James Trafford departing in January, even though the England international has become uneasy about his role with Gianluigi Donnarumma clearly established as the first-choice, but City are receptive to the idea of Stefan Ortega leaving.
In the long term, City is also considering central midfield options for Tijjani Reijnders, given that Mateo Kovacic is injured and Bernardo Silva’s contract expires in the summer. Right-back was initially an area of focus for City during the summer, but the strong performances of Matheus Nunes in that role have lowered its priority. Tino Livramento remains a target over the long term, yet Newcastle has no intentions of releasing him. City is among the clubs interested in acquiring Marc Guehi on a free transfer next summer, considering John Stones is in the last year of his contract and Nathan Ake approaching 31.
