Three Washington Commanders players sustained season-ending injuries in Week 9

In Week 9, the Washington Commanders hosted the Seattle Seahawks. At halftime, the score was 31-7, with the Commanders’ defense struggling significantly.
Seattle established a 28-0 advantage before Washington managed to score. The final result was 38-14, placing the Commanders’ record at 3-6 in 2025. This marks more defeats than they experienced during the entire 2024 regular season. In their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Seahawks, three players on the Commanders’ roster sustained season-ending injuries, including Jayden Daniels, Luke McCaffrey, and Marshon Lattimore.
Washington faced three critical injuries in a Week 9 defeat against Seattle.

Following a successful 12-5 campaign in 2024, the Commanders have significantly regressed in 2025, largely due to a series of injuries affecting their offense. In Week 2 against the Packers, veteran RB Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending torn Achilles. Additionally, WR Noah Brown has been sidelined since Week 2 with a groin injury. Furthermore, WR Terry McLaurin has also missed five games this season due to injury. It’s not an ideal situation for the Commanders.
Additionally, 2024 Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels has been unavailable for three games this season because of injuries. In the Week 9 game against the Seahawks, the Commanders’ 2025 season took a downturn. Trailing 38-7 in the fourth quarter, Jayden Daniels remained on the field when he suffered a dislocated elbow and had to leave the game. Observers and fans expressed disbelief about why head coach Dan Quinn kept the Pro Bowl QB on the field.
Since the beginning of the regular season, 17 players from the Commanders have dealt with injuries that have or will lead to time missed. Of those affected, 13 were starters when they were injured.

Jayden Daniels is anticipated to be out for a considerable amount of time, potentially the entire 2025 season. The Commanders still have eight games remaining on their schedule. While Daniels is sidelined, Marcus Mariota will take over as the starting QB for Washington. On the opening kickoff during Sunday Night Football in Week 9, Commanders WR and kick returner Luke McCaffrey suffered a broken collarbone, marking another significant loss for Washington’s offense.
McCaffrey’s season will conclude with 11 receptions for 203 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He also recorded 769 yards on 26 kick returns in 2025. Commanders CB Marshon Lattimore encountered a torn ACL during the Week 9 matchup against the Seahawks. Although Lattimore has seen a decline in his performance, he remains one of the top CBs in a vulnerable Commanders secondary. Losing Lattimore for the rest of the season is a substantial setback. What will be Washington’s final record for 2025?
