Tomori suspended following Stanciu penalty miss in Milan 1-1 Genoa

Fikayo Tomori is among five players from Serie A who received a suspension during the 19th round of league matches, which means he will miss Milan’s upcoming game against Fiorentina on Sunday. Tomori suspended after Milan 1-1 Genoa. He was one of several Rossoneri players cautioned during the protests that erupted following the last-minute penalty decision at the conclusion of Milan’s 1-1 draw with Genoa on Thursday night. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan, along with defenders Tomori and Strahinja Pavlovic, were all cautioned during the tumultuous final moments, culminating in Nicolae Stanciu missing the chance to secure a win by sending his penalty kick over the crossbar. The official Serie A announcement verifies that Tomori’s booking was for his protests directed at the referee; however, La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that his yellow card was issued for excessively celebrating after Stanciu missed his penalty. Who else is suspended for Serie A week 20? No red cards were issued during the latest Serie A round, but Tomori along with four others will face suspensions for the upcoming weekend. Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni is among those affected. He has received a one-match suspension and a €1,500 fine for disputing decisions from match officials during Lazio 2-2 Fiorentina and accruing his fifth yellow card of the season as a consequence. His fine was imposed because he is the team’s captain. Torino’s Cesare Casadei received his fifth yellow card while playing in Torino 1-2 Udinese and will be suspended for the match against Atalanta on Saturday. Additionally, Como’s Jacobo Ramon was cautioned for his fifth yellow card during Pisa 0-3 Como, and he will also be absent from Saturday’s match against Bologna.
