Tyson Fury Linked With Russian Powerhouse For Comeback Fight

Tyson Fury may soon announce when he plans to make his return to the boxing ring. The previous world heavyweight champion hung up his gloves last January after enduring two back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk. The initial setback occurred in May 2024, resulting in a loss of his world title, and the follow-up in December confirmed Usyk’s superiority. Even in retirement, many remain hopeful that Fury will reconsider and engage in one last bout against long-time rival and fellow ex-champion Anthony Joshua. He has recently been spotted training again, but he’ll need to eliminate some ring rust before facing a heavyweight like ‘AJ’. Early speculations suggest that Arslanbek Makhmudov could be Fury’s next opponent, with Gareth A Davies being the first to highlight that the Russian is indeed a possibility. Makhmudov faced a stoppage loss against Agit Kabayel and endured a challenging match against British heavyweight Dave Allen at Sheffield Arena in October, but he managed to secure a unanimous decision victory. Therefore, he would present a resilient challenge for Fury, who will have been out of the ring for over a year by the time he steps back into action. In response to the fight rumors, Allen has cautioned ‘The Gypsy King’ that Makhmudov – also referred to as ‘The Lion’ – should not be underestimated.
