What Man Utd said to Antoine Semenyo
Fabrizio Romano has disclosed how Manchester United attempted to persuade Antoine Semenyo to join Old Trafford during the January transfer window. Semenyo has opted to sign with Manchester City from Bournemouth for £65million in the January transfer period, but United expressed interest in him.
Romano mentioned on his YouTube channel: “In the discussions they held with Antoine Semenyo, Man Utd made it clear they were even willing to alter their system to accommodate him.
“So Semenyo wouldn’t be positioned as a wing-back. The plan from Man Utd was to create space for a new system with Semenyo playing up front.
“However, despite a significant financial commitment since United, particularly yesterday, made a considerable financial effort to secure the player… even with their tactical attempts to integrate Semenyo and discover the optimal tactical approach, they did not receive affirmation from Semenyo.”
