Younghoe Koo will be the New York Giants’ third kicker of the 2025 season in Week 10

As they prepare for their Week 10 game against the Chicago Bears, the New York Giants stand at 2-7. They are experiencing a three-game losing streak. Throughout the 2025 season, New York has faced challenges at the kicker position due to injuries.
Veteran Graham Gano is currently in his 16th professional season, with this marking his sixth year with the Giants. Over the previous three seasons, Gano has missed a significant amount of time because of injuries, which has negatively impacted the team. He has participated in five of the first nine games for the 2025 season. Once again, Gano is battling persistent injuries. Head coach Brian Daboll informed the media that Gano is unlikely to be available for Week 10. Younghoe Koo has been promoted from the practice squad and will be kicking for the Giants against the Bears.

At the beginning of the 2025 season, Younghoe Koo was part of the Atlanta Falcons. In the first week, Atlanta found themselves in a tight game with Tampa Bay. With just six seconds remaining, the Falcons were trailing 23-20. Younghoe Koo attempted a 44-yard field goal and missed it wide right. Following this, the 31-year-old was benched in Week 2. On September 19, 2025, Koo was released by the Falcons.
Parker Romo took over as kicker after Koo. On November 4, Romo was let go by Atlanta. Younghoe Koo signed with the New York Giants’ practice squad on September 23, 2025. Despite Graham Gano’s injury absence, the Giants opted for kicker Jude McAtamney. He was the starter from Weeks 4-7 for New York. McAtamney missed several extra points during Week 7 in a narrow 33-32 defeat for the team.

Younghoe Koo expressed that he’s “very ready” to kick this Sunday against the Bears and shared his thoughts on adapting to the Giants’ system.

He was let go by the Giants, but Graham Gano returned to health in Weeks 8 and 9. However, the veteran kicker is now facing another neck injury. Brian Daboll confirmed that Gano will be unavailable in Week 10. Younghoe Koo will take on the role of starting kicker for the Giants. He hasn’t played in a game this season since his Week 1 appearance with the Falcons. Last year, Koo achieved a 25-34 record on field goal attempts.
It is important to consider that kicking conditions will not be favorable in Week 10 when the Giants head to Chicago. On Sunday, the forecast calls for a high of 38 degrees, with wind gusts ranging from 20 to 30 miles per hour. Additionally, there is a 38% probability of light snow. Given the weather forecast, both teams may face difficulties with their kicking in Week 10.
